Dagmar Hoetzel
is an architect, author and curator who lives and works in Berlin. For “Weltstadt – who creates the city?” she visited the project “Upgrading Informal Settlements – Informal Studio: Marlboro South in Johannesburg” – a city whose evolution she has been following for over 15 years. She is particularly interested in the ways in which planning and construction processes can contribute to the democratisation of a city and society, and found in Marlboro South a successful example that chronicles new pathways.Defined tags for this entry: community, dagmar hoetzel, derelict, informal, informal settlement, intervention, johannesburg, marlboro south, participation, upgrading
