This new series of events, Lives of Objects: Virtual Gatherings, aims to form a platform for exchange and discussion about the decades-long and ongoing efforts for the recovery of looted cultural heritage and ancestral belongings to their countries and communities of origin.

Through online readings and talks at the intersection of scholarship with the literary scene, as well as book reviews on Instagram, the series intends to open up spaces for texts and readers, different ways of reading and new perspectives on literature. For this episode, we speak to multidisciplinary artist Gugulethu Duma aka Dumama about her involvement with the Goethe-Institut over the years and across continents, which includes film festivals, music performances, a podcast project and workshops. We discuss the complex poetics of curating in a space that is scarred by colonialism and apartheid. Gugulethu will welcome us into her multidisciplinary world to vindicate the healing power of artistic practices and the challenges encountered along the way.

Goethe-Kino is our monthly series of contemporary German cinema, outstanding TV productions and film classics. All movies are shown with English subtitles unless otherwise specified. We are offering screenings at the Goethe-Institut London on the last Wednesday of every month. We are delighted to continue our online Goethe-Kino, running for 10 days after the cinema screening.
