Fatih Akin’s film had its world premiere at the Cannes film festival. Germany’s contribution to the competition centres on neo-Nazi attacks and parallels in the real NSU trial. The main character is a German woman whose husband is Kurdish. He and their young son are killed in a bombing committed by neo-Nazis.
