Originally set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the TIFF screening will be the film's global and North American premiere. Oscar winner Kate Winslet will be honoured with this year's TIFF Tribute Award.

Wim Wenders, a long-time TIFF friend, is a Festival Ambassador, a new initiative that rallies acclaimed filmmakers and actors to help TIFF celebrate this year’s unique event by engaging with audiences through interactive digital experiences.

Tailored to fit the moment, the 45th Toronto International Film Festival presents itself as a Canada-wide hybrid event offering both virtual and on-screen experiences to bring the best in film to its audiences, with a noticeable representation of women, Black people, Indigenous people, and people of colour. Over the first five days, TIFF’s full slate of films will premiere as physical, socially distanced screenings, followed by digital reprised 48 hours later. Festival-goers can also enjoy drive-ins and outdoor experiences that take them beyond the movie theatre. For the first time in its history, TIFF will launch a digital platform for the festival that is here to stay, creating new opportunities to connect with a broader audience through the hosting of digital screenings, virtual red carpets, press conferences, and industry talks.
