Take a break from streaming films with some “cinema for your ears” as Goethe-Institut Toronto Program Curator Jutta Brendemühl introduces you to the best & brightest film composers in an ongoing video series called "The Sound Of Filmmusik" (takes 1-3 here, takes 7-9 here), from Hollywood super star Hans Zimmer to 2020 Oscar winner Hildur Guðnadóttir.
You might remember composer Lorenz Dangel from Tim Fehlbaum's celebrated apocalypse film "Hell" (or his recent German Film Award nomination for Christian Schwochow's Nazi drama "The German Lesson"). Dangel will be back in cinemas soon -- with Fehlbaum's next sci-fi thriller "Haven: Above Sky":
You might remember the 2018 underground hit feminist zombie thriller "Endzeit - Ever After", created by an entirely female team. The composer was Dresden-based Franziska Henke, a "Berlinale Talent" who visited us at the Goethe-Institut Toronto during TIFF and has some advice for aspiring film composers:
