Margarethe von Trotta on turning thoughts into images

In 2012, we had Margarethe von Trotta and her co-writer Pamela Katz at the Goethe-Institut Toronto to talk about their TIFF film HANNAH ARENDT, a portrait of the philosopher. Much of what the filmmaker said about painting a picture of the thinker Arendt also pertains to her first documentary, at TIFF18, SEARCHING FOR INGMAR BERGMAN, her Idol and influence:
