This October, GOETHE FILMS presents the exclusive Canadian premiere of the complete first season of acclaimed TV mini series “Bad Banks.” The German-Luxemburgish co-production set at the heart of Europe’s financial capitals premiered at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival 2018 and went on to win the Audience Award at the Kino Festival New York. Meet the characters & cast:
Christelle Leblanc (49) lives in Luxembourg with her son. She represents the cultural transformation in the banking world.
Prior to her career as an investment banker, she hunted down white-collar criminals and money launderers at DGSE, France’s external intelligence agency, during the 1990s. The highly successful and prominent banker wants to use sustainable financial products to regain the trust and confidence of clients and the company. Or at least that’s how her image reads. But Leblanc is a master manipulator. She knows how emotions work, and above all how to take advantage of them to control people. Like Jana Liekam, for example.
Leblanc's motto: "Never lose control.”
Actress-producer Désirée Nosbusch was born in 1965 in Luxembourg. In 1984 she first came to prominence with the duet “Kann es Liebe sein?” with Austrian singer Falco. She studied film direction and production at the University of Southern California and trained in New York. In Germany, France and Luxembourg, she has had a successful career as a (music) TV and radio moderator. Born to an Italian mother and a father from Luxembourg, she speaks fluent German, English, French, Italian and Luxembourgish. “Bad Banks” has been hailed as her big comeback as a character actor.
