We are happy to again collaborate with Toronto’s aluCine Latin Film+Media Arts Festival, co-presenting this year’s short film program “Textures” on June 8, 9:30pm at the AGO. Sumptuous and carefully observed, the visual stories on display engage the senses and entice the mind to view Latin America from other angles.A highlight in the program is CATALINA Y EL SOL (CATALINA AND THE SUN) (Argentina/Germany/France 2015, 16 min), directed by Anna Paula Hönig. The short premiered at the 65th Berlinale 2015 at Generation Kplus section & Special Recommendation NATIVe – A Journey Into Indigenous Cinema section.
Anna Paula Hönig was born in 1981 in Berlin as the daughter of a German mother and an Argentinean father. She worked as a journalist at Deutsche Welle, but her desire to get to know her father's country has always been present. For Hönig, CATALINA Y EL SOL opens a window to the richness and beauty of the Anden in the North of Argentina.
