Hard to keep track of author Frank Goosen's cinematic adventures. While we are showing his book-on-film
LEARNING TO LIE, he is eagerly awaiting the world premiere of Sönke Wortmann's take on SUMMER FEST in Goosen's hometown of Bochum, June 2 if you want to drop by (Goosen will read from the book
here). And now Berlin über-producer UFA announces this:
Shooting has begun on the new feature film "So viel Zeit" ("So Much Time") starring Laura Tonke, Jan Josef Liefers, Armin Rohde, Jürgen Vogel and many other stars. In it, Liefers plays a tax lawyer who falls ill with a brain tumour and tries to get his old band together after thirty years. In "So viel Zeit," the cinema adaptation of the novel of the same name by Frank Goosen, director Philipp Kadelbach ("Naked Among Wolves," "Generation War") celebrates life, music and the fact that it is never too late to turn one’s life around.
In addition to the great ensemble – including Jan Josef Liefers ("Four Against the Bank"), Jürgen Vogel ("The Wave"), Richy Müller ("Schlussmacher"), Armin Rohde ("Night Shift"), Matthias Bundschuh ("Wir sind die Neuen"), André M. Hennicke ("Victoria"), Alwara Höfels ("Suck Me Shakespeer") and Laura Tonke ("The People vs. Fritz Bauer"), the members of the legendary Scorpions band appear for a cameo performance. "So viel Zeit" will be shot between until April 2017 around Düsseldorf and in Berlin. It will be in movie theatres in spring of 2018.
The plot: Admittedly, Rainer’s (Jan Josef Liefers) life is not exactly as he had dreamed it would be. He’s bored with his work, his wife left him and his son wished for a better dad. Rainer also has a skeleton in the closet. Thirty years ago, he spoiled the breakthrough of his rock band Bochums Steine on stage. His bandmates Bulle, Konni, Thomas and especially Ole have never forgiven him. As if that weren’t enough, his doctor broke the news that he doesn’t have long to live. Is it the end? Not for Rainer! He resolves to give his all one more time and hit the ground running. He wants to make up for one thing in his life: a comeback for Bochums Steine! How will his old bandmates react to his proposal? Can Rainer convince them that it’s never too late to live the dream? He has nothing left to lose and all at once, life is back on Rainer’s side…
"So viel Zeit" is a UFA fiction production, co-produced in cooperation with Sky and directed by Philipp Kadelbach. The film is based on the hit novel of the same name by Frank Goosen, the screenplay is by Stefan Kolditz, Malte Welding and Thomas Sieben.
