Leaving 2013 on a light note, here are a few Youtube snippets to enjoy with a glass of hot Glühwein.
Daniel Brühl was one of the German stars who broke all records this year.
We will bring him back to Toronto screens in our upcoming GOETHE FILMS comedy series in May. To get you in the mood (if the priceless "Rush" poster image doesn't do the job) ...
1. Most recently in “Rush”, for which he is Golden Globe-nominated, soon-to-be wife Marlene asks Nikki Lauda to
drive fast.
2. Brühl is
Adam Goldberg‘s fairy in the really funny 2007 Julie Delpy comedy “2 Days in Paris“.
3. And Daniel Brühl can even
peel your potatoes in Polish, here in “Ladies in Lavender”.
You'll remember that Brühl recently starred in the TIFF opener “The Fifth Estate” alongside fellow German actor Moritz Bleibtreu, who then appeared throughout our Fatih Akin retro in October. Bleibtreu is back in German cinemans on January 16 with the aptly named road movie “Not My Day”. Here is the (German) teaser trailer, you’ll get the drift of him announcing the film and his role in it…

If you didn't understand the above clip, it's time for you to sit down with German funny man Matthias Schweighöfer ("Valkyrie") and his English-German live dictionary for an educational boost over the holidays.
See you back in early January with a German test and a sneak peek of German films in production!
Auf Wiedersehen, Jutta Brendemühl
