Murat Uyurkulak: „Eine Lesung in Duisburg“

I think I will never forget the reading I held together with Ayfer Tunç in the Duisburg public library for an audience of Turkish, Kurdish and German young people. My God, what questions they asked! What liveliness and what joie de vivre! As I stood in front of these young people, each one more curious and less restrained than the one before, I felt, in spite of their tremendous diversity, the joy in being human beings and in being alive.

Once again I understood the following truth: actually all of us are equal, and if capitalism - in other words, this economic hustle and bustle, all the prejudices, brutalities and injustices - just leaves us alone, and if the educational systems that transform us into cogs in a runaway machine give us some breathing space, then nothing can stop us from living a happy life together with one another and in harmony with nature.
