The power of the network

The Goethe-Institut promotes international cultural exchange and focuses on cohesion around the world. Our projects and funding programmes are developed in close partnership with institutions, initiatives and artists in our host countries. We build bridges between culture, education and science and create free spaces for an open exchange on the basis of trust.

Expertise and Commitment

The libraries of the Goethe-Institut are public places for exchange and encounter. Around 800,000 analogue and digital media convey an up-to-date image of Germany.

Exhibitions, discussions, workshops – numerous activities of the Goethe-Institut help people all over the globe to come into contact and engage with contemporary art from Germany.

The Goethe-Institut is committed to education and social discourse. We provide platforms for artists, academics and journalists.

A stage for German film – the Goethe-Institut shows outstanding German films and TV productions and supports innovative radio projects.

Translation grants, readings, workshops and residency offers – the Goethe-Institut expands international literary dialogue. We strengthen local literary scenes and book markets.

Our mission: to convey an image of the varied musical life in Germany and to initiate the exchange between artists at home and abroad. This applies to professionals, young people and amateurs.

We offer international and German theatre and dance professionals exchange, encounters and debates in the field of performing arts.
