Impressions – #1 The Egyptian Uprising
The 25th of January started off with another call for protest, like so many others I had heard before. I followed a small group of protesters from Tahrir Square to Shubra, when I heard that shots were being fired on a group of protestors at Tahrir. I returned downtown and exited the metro – straight into a wall of teargas and an eerily quiet square. From there on, we all know the story of how the protests grew, the crowd of protesters became more diverse, and the army stepped in to quell the chaos. These images are from that first day of the uprising in Egypt until the last day, when Mubarak stepped down.
