Before the revolution the common definition of Libya consisted of one word -- "Gaddafi." Now it consists of "Gaddafi & rebellion." Since I rushed in with other journalists in February, the images have only reinforced this simple definition, but of course, Libya's history and psyche is much more complex than the glorified war images we see.

The 25th of January started off with another call for protest, like so many others I had heard before. I followed a small group of protesters from Tahrir Square to Shubra, when I heard that shots were being fired on a group of protestors at Tahrir. I returned downtown and exited the metro – straight into a wall of teargas and an eerily quiet square.
