Working within the scope of FIT and using ideas of transformation and sustainable practices, we will present a series of performance and video installations done by Japanese artists Mai Yamashita & Naoto Kobayashi.
Mai Yamashita (PhD) and Naoto Kobayashi are a Japanese artist couple who started working together in 2000. After graduating from the Tokyo University of the Arts, they moved to Germany, where they have been living and working ever since. They recently participated in such residencies as the Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin) and are currently participating at the ISCP-Insternational Studio & Curatorial Program in NY. Their work has been exhibited in such institutions as Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki, Finland; Museo de Arte Contemporánea (MARCO), Vigo, Spain and Aichi Triennale 2010, Japan. They are also scheduled to participate in Yokohama Triennale 2011.
Victor Wang is a Vancouver artist, researcher, and curator, based in Berlin. He has worked with such galleries as Johann König Gallery, and Blanket Contemporary Art Inc. He has collaborated and worked with such institutions as: Künstlerhauses Bethanien (Berlin), Veneklasen Werner (Berlin), Satellite Gallery (Vancouver), and the Grimmuseum (Berlin). Victor is also the co-founder of Here Is Now and Founder of Make Art History.
