Today was our last full day in Germany and it was awesome. We got up and took a walk through a park which took us to a music museum. This was really good as they had loads of signed guitars! When we finsished there we went and played frisby and soon after that went for lunch. I wasn't hungry so me and Adam decided to throw Gummibärchen into eachothers mouth from about 2 meters away, lots of laughter, I managed to catch 5 on a row! After lunch we walked to the BMW world. I thought this might have been boring as I'm not into cars. However, I really enjoyed it! After this we walked to the Tollwood festival were I boughta few presents, and had some tea and listened to music. We then went to a 'Wir sind Helden' concert, which was really good. However, it started raining and we had to walk back to the hostel in it. When we went back up to our rooms we packed and I played cards with Alice, Erin, Jennifer and Natalia. This was really fun. Overall, the trip was really great, I made new friends and I hope I'll keep in touch with them. Best trip ever!!! Was AWESOME!
Today would be too difficult to write about in German so I'm not even going to try. 'All you need is Music' is an exhibition of private memorabilia owned by a husband and wife. The amount of they had was absolutely amazing. They had guitars from bands ranging from Shakira and the Doobic Brothers to Metallica and Nirvana (which I sat and starred at for 20 minutes). We then had lunch and visited the 'BMW Welt' where new BMW models were on show. But the highlight of the day had to be 'Wir sind Helden' live at the Tollwood festival. Everybody was singing, dancing, clapping and jumping to a great performance (especially 'Von hier blind' and 'Echolot'). There was a storm after the show which was an absolute blessing because it had been 30C for the past 2 days. This trip has been amazing. Many thanks to Inkeri, Almut, Anette and the Goethe-Institut London!
Today was all about experiencing German music and culture. Walking in such hot conditions was tiring but pleasant as we cut through the Olympic Park- literally the complex where the 1972 Olympic games in Munich were held. After walking through the complex we arrived at a music exhibition called 'All you need is Music'. It contained various artists' merchandise in a massive music collection of the 60s, 70s and 80s music. Loads of artists from Elvis, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, with many autographed guitars. We then proceeded to the Tollwood Festival, which had many shops and bars. Then we went and enjoyed a concert with an extremely popular German rock/pop band called Wir sind Helden, translated as 'We are heroes'. They played some good tracks with 3 encores! And then it rained! And rained very heavily! Our journey back to the hostel slightly dump but was still fun. This results with being the end of the popKultur trip. I have had an extremely good time and would like to thank the Goethe-Institut for organising the trip. I have met new people and there's not been a dull moment! Cheers...
Hi again everybody, today was very good. We have been to the Olympic Park to 'All you need is Music', a music exhibition with a great range of musical 'artefacts' and different sections on a range of artists, eg. Elvis, Madonna and The Beatles. We then had lunch in the park. We fed the fish and ducks with the left over bread. We then headed over to the BMW World where all the new BMW's go. We even got to see if we could make it on BMW's racing yacht. After a short walk around Olmpic Park we headed over to Tollwood, the rock show, where we went around the shops and then played frisbee. It was now time to go into the Wir sind Helden show, where we got some seats and listened to the warm up band. It then started to rain and it rained hard and of course, being British, we headed our into it. The show was great even though only one song was in English. After the last song we had to risk the storm to get back to the hostel but being used to rain it wasn't hard.
Yesterday we went to the Olympic Park, which I found absolutely amazing. First we explored the music exhibition call 'All you need is Music', it was really interesting and I took so many pictures. After that we had a picnic. Then we went to see the BMW exhibition, which was placed in a very modern building and have seen many latest cars of BMW. We have also been to the Toolwood Festival and have seen the Wir sind Helden concert. We had a chance to stand very close to the stage, I must say it was a great feeling and the atmosphere was just incredible. I think it has been an absolutely awesome day and I have had so much fun and experienced even more. Overall, I think the whole popKultur trip was fantastic, I loved everything about it and would recommend it to everybody.

I have certainly enjoyed my visit in Munich. Over the past five days I was shown so much of Munich's culture, and it was an excellent experience. The visit to Radio Gong was very interesting and it provided an insight into the workings of a very complex organisation. We were also given some free time to wander around Munich, which was great as we were able to explore at our own pace and its what we wanted. The Tollwood festival was also excellent, showing modern culture, an addition to Munich's past. The concert 'Wir sind Helden', despite taking place in a phenomenal thunderstorm, was a big hit with everyone. This trip has been excellent and I could easily recommend it.
