The program of films selected for Sydney’s recent German Film Festival gave insights into the fearless creativity, humour and freshness that is to be found in German cinema culture today. Curated by the Director of the Goethe Dr. Arpad Sölter, the selection neither buried the past, nor avoided approaching such looming crises as that of global climate change. Importantly it included compelling films of German historical, philosophical and artistic interest as well as those of more global concerns.

Thank you very much for adding Robert Koehler's well balanced review of this film to your blog! It's good to read how he assesses the reviews of other critics to ignite a real controversy. It's an excellent movie.

I wonder, however, how Africans feel about it like people in Cameroon where this film was made. Would they agree or claim these are stereotypes about Africa only? Could they identify with the way Westafrica is presented in this movie made by a Westerner? Is there any feedback out there from Africans on this film?
