The Festival

The festival was a brilliant idea and I give thumbs up to K.V.S for the effort they have made to promote the arts in the Kinshasa area and the greater good of the people of Congo. The festival was put together to showcase the artistic works of the youth in the Kinshasa area and what they have done throughout the year.

Groups were carefully selected from the Kinshasa area and Kisangani. For me, my interest was to see what artists in these areas are doing with respect to dance and with the little they had at their disposal i.e. in terms of infrastructure and motivation.

Space was provided for the various groups to rehearse on a daily basis during the festival period. So I had the chance to witness the groups rehearse before the main performance in the evening.

The festival also paraded some foreign groups. One of such groups was a Slovak Dance Collective which is based in Belgium and has a very good relationship with K.V.S, the organizers of the festival.
