For many people in Europe or people living in economies that are successfully taking part in the international trading system, the term „globalization“ might be a vague term, which is neither visible nor tangible.

However, for people in other regions of the world, where countries are going through major transitions in a short period of time, it is a matter of daily life.

Egypt is exemplary for a country that has experienced fundamental economic and political changes in the last decades.

One of the greatest consequences of the Arab upheavals of 2010, undoubtedly concerns the millions of people who escaped from violence or war, becoming displaced from their homes and livelihood. Apart from these humanitarian crises, the so-called Arab Spring will cause even more social crises having to do with international migration.

With the migration of people the place of departure must cope with the loss of it’s social, cultural capital as well as something that is called in economic jargon as human capital.
