“Now the Jerk is Somewhere Else Again” had its debut, following a Promising Play Award, at the Maxim Gorki Theater. The "Jerk" of the title is a drug dealer whom the characters Igor and Andrej are looking for when they step into a Berlin subway car. Failing to find him, they begin a killing spree, shooting anything and everything in sight, including God. Sternburg then sends the two on a nihilistic quest for meaning.
German author and playwright Juri Sternburg was born in 1983. After performing at the Berliner Ensemble and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, he experimented with graffiti and street art. Sternburg's first play, “6 Square Meter Chrome”, appeared in 2007, his first radio play in 2010. Sternburg's next play will premiere at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, where he lives and is currently at work on his first novel.
