Five comic artists from Indonesia (Is Yuniarto, Ariela Kristantina, Aziza Noor, Galang Tirtakusuma, and Vbi Djenggotten) were invited to present their works at Germany's largest comic festival.

With the exhibition "Comics from Indonesia" the Comic-Salon audience in Germany got the rare chance to take a peek into what's going on in the Indonesian comic scene today. And "our" artists got the valuable opportunity to meet fellow comic artists, fans and publishers from all around the world. Which comics were presented in the exhibition? Have a look at the catalogue: Comic from Indonesien (PDF, 12 MB) Comic-Salon Erlangen 7.-10. Juni 2012.
The artists were accompanied and supported by Comiconnexions curators Surjorimba Suroto and Imansyah Lubis , as well as Veriana Devi from Goethe-Insitut Indonesia throughout their trip.
Here you can read an excerpt of Surjorimba "Surjo" Suroto's travel-diary. His entire documentation (Indonesian) can be accessed via our facebook page:

To let more artists take part and learn from the Erlangen experience, we conducted a sharing session at Goethe-Institut Jakarta afterwards, and one in Bandung. Beng also spoke about his experience traveling to Angoulême, the biggest comic festival in France. Sharing is caring! Here are some photos.
