To be more precise, it's a tribute for so many things, some of them are:
1. The city I love dearly, but have to leave behind for a couple of years (I'm in another legendary city, Detroit, right now). I can never imagine living the rest of my life other than in Jakarta. I've tried to, & am trying once again, but I'll be back. The place I love to hate, and hate to love, just wait… I'll smell you once again in the not-too-distant future.
2. The people I've spent time with, met, and known better this year (including all that are involved in this blog—coordinators, collaborators, & other contributors). It's been great knowing you guys…
3. The celebrations themselves. This time around, I use visual & audio montages of the celebrations held near my departure. From religion-based family one, to hipster market, to intimate gatherings. That's how I celebrate. I intentionally leave details & explanations out of them, so anyone watching can take anything (or even nothing) from it. It's so personal this time, it doesn't make any sense to force anything into it.
Parting words, “So long, farewell,
auf Wiedersehen, adieu”, then, peeps. It's been a really nice ride. It's been a really good year for me. I hope it has been for you too.
Great holiday wishes for everyone!
