Money really makes the place go round and sometime go nuts! I see cent and sensibilities as money and happiness for Bangkok’s lives. Both are considered as components of life that play a major role in urban life anywhere in the world. We live in happiness measured by cents. The more money we make, the more happiness to come. Some even believe that money is the only source of happiness as quoted “money can buy anything”.
Dated back in ancient period, Thai social status was based on social class; nobility and slave. Slave is a group of people treated as property which confined to have rights and wills. Nobility is inherited from parentage and family. Hence, wealth sees as the main signification of life’s standard and happiness was perceived differently between liberate and social-acceptance.
Since Thais have started to welcome the Far East innovation, technology becomes the key to success, opportunities and business. Social class was no longer Thais’ lifestyles except allows expertise and skillful people to step up. Like many successful businessmen began their careers as labor force before managing multimillion businesses.
Bangkok is it – the place for opportunities and jobs where drive many opportunity seekers to settle their hopes of becoming a successful pioneer. The high percentage of job competitions and trade in Bangkok are indicated the needs of achievements, more important, higher salary-based is major drive. City people have set goal of life including good career, high salary, happy family and beautiful home – together is defined happiness of life. But life in Bangkok is tricky.
The civilization and prosperity can tempt people to fail to achieve their goal. People may be deceived by luxurious, wealth, ease and sophisticated options which has put many lives in question, whether the city serves their goal of success or greed. To simplify, of which you expect from Bangkok – get a job promotion or Starbuck coffee break.
Here’s the thin line of how to pursuit the happiness and either the happiness is short-term or the long-run. No conclusion if money is the ultimate factor for a happy life. It depends on how each person perceives happiness and manages money factor to meet balance. Then, we will know how big or small our happiness is.
