Built Up in Singapore
Singapore is small. It takes 45 mins to drive from the far east coast to the far west. With land such a scarce commodity, many old buildings make way for new ones.
Very few people live in heritage buildings. If there is an international style that is taking over the world, Singapore is a place where it is happening. New buildings, construction, similar architecture is everywhere.
New condominiums, and I live in one, seem to have the same design and feel to them. Carbon cut outs copied from somewhere else. Having lived in Australia in a 100 year old villa, which by the way looked exactly the same as all the other villas on the street, I tend to lean towards newer moderns forms of abode these days. Even my house in Australia had a major renovation because the walls were falling apart, the old fireplaces in every room were never used and a new kitchen was installed.
Choosing convenience over heritage, where does it lead? It makes us more reliant on technology, which may not be such a good thing. It makes us lazier but it also makes our lives easier so we have time for other things. We just need to make sure that the things we own don’t end up owning us.

you can always combine heritage with technology, old shell fresh new interiors, thats what i have got. I suppose in a county where pace is limited and populations are going up and up you can have these wonderful old houses or looking houses as the need is to build high and fast
