Hallo Astrid & Thyra,

Ihr habt ja interessante Diskussionen auf dem Blog.
Dieser Beitrag gefällt mir besonders, da man so schön über dieses nette Wort ephemer philosophieren kann.
Das Langenscheidt Fremdwörterbuch definiert ephemer als

1. kurzlebig, flüchtig, rasch vorübergehend, vergänglich
2. BIOLOGIE nur einen Tag dauernd, eintägig.

Wenn man nun den Begriff "ephemere Festarchitektur" betrachtet und ihn zum Beispiel auf Triumphbögen aus dem 18 Jhdt. anwendet, fragt man sich auf den ersten Blick wieviel Zeit denn nun hoechstens vergehen darf, damit es noch "rasch vorübergehend" ist.
Natuerlich ist mir auch klar, dass dieser Begriff eher auf das Ereignis der Triumphfeier bezogen ist - also dem Grund, warum diese Triumphbögen erstellt wurden.
Auf Deine Kunst bezogen, Thyra kann man sicher auch einen vergänglichen Teil verstehen - nämlich den der Photos und Texte - aber auch einen ueberdauernden Faktor. Die Menschen, die diese Kunstwerke gesehen haben werden sich auch lange Zeit später noch daran erinnern.

Kann man deswegen vielleicht auch von nachhaltiger ephemerer Kunst sprechen?

Freue mich schon auf weitere Kommentare und Beiträge.

Private Snapshot meets Public Space – an old love affair

Thyra Schmidt shares a common problem with most of us: How to ‘feel real’ and how to ‘really feel’ when all our feelings are constantly tickled and stimulated from outside? How to maintain a sentimental honesty, let alone innocence, when this innocence is abused and manipulated over and over again, mostly by advertising that tries to fit its products right into our social and emotional stratosphere. – Missing and longing, craving and yearning, having and holding.
Thyra’s way to defend her sense of authenticity is making her private life public. What we see in her series “A can’t just be Nowhere” is mostly pictures of her near and dear, taken during summer vacations or during long hiking tours through Norway; what we get to read is short excerpts and quotations from her personal reading and writing. In this way Thyra constructs small suggestive daydreams, not far from her own romantic fantasies, which, blown up to bigger-than-life size, appear like little islands of conventional, yet somehow vital feeling against a sea of professional attention-grabbers.
No doubt, this is absolutely likeable and becomes ever more likeable each time one passes one of her works in the street. Open invitations to places without vested interests. However, I wonder whether these places are not too low above sea-level. Hasn’t the ‘global emotional warming’ progressed too far already? – My first thought was that Thyra’s works might not be tough enough, not aggressive enough in order to compete for the public’s attention. But probably it is exactly the opposite: Probably Thyra doesn’t make herself frail and vulnerable enough for her works to fully reach out to us passers-by.
The relationship between the private and the public has been tackled before. Against the background of this tradition Thyra’s carefulness in keeping the most important aspects of her private life intact makes her works seem to fall a little short. Instead of remaining vague and secretive about who we see in the pictures and about what might be alluded to in the text extracts, a radical transparency might have resulted in a fresher approach to a somewhat time-worn love affair.

Auch hier passen Photo und Text super zusammen, zumal ich schwer vermute, dass es bei der Aufnahme wirklich sehr heiss war und daher der Schweiss geperlt ist. Um das noch besser beurteilen zu können, wäre es schön, wenn sich die Photos vergrössern liessen.

In zwei Sätzen klingt der Text tatsächlich zunächst widersprüchlich, wahrscheinlich ist das der Grund, warum ich ihn ausgewählt habe. Das Original ist im übrigen länger und entnommen aus "Drachenblut" von Christoph Hein.
Deine Frage gefällt mir, denn letztendlich sehe ich die Texte - egal welcher (Inspirations)quelle sie entnommen sind - als meine an.

Die Plakate mit den Photos finde ich toll! Mit dem Text habe ich so mein Problem. "Aber ich hatte ihm nichts zu sagen. Dass ich mich nach ihm sehne."
Also grammatikalisch ist das doch falsch, oder? Ja, ja, ich weiss, das ist die kuenstlerische Freiheit des Schriftstellers, trotzdem frage ich mich, was er damit meint. Vielleicht, "ich hatte ihm nichts anderes zu sagen als dass ich mich nach ihm sehne"?
Was meinst Du denn damit Thyra?
Und dann noch die Frage: Aus welcher Publikation von Christoph Hein stammt dieses Zitat?

The installation fits really good to the hairdresser, even if it's a kind of anti-publicity, because there is perhaps no longer need to go to the hairdresser if the love fits so well
