Bangkok: Songsin

Songsin Tiewsomboon, also known as “UP” is a young Thai graphic novel artist and comics writer.
After having graduated from the faculty of Decorative Arts, Songsin has been working on many short stories, fables, graphic novels as well as comic strips. His famous works are “Beansprout and Firehead”, “Nine Lives”, and “Stories of Bobby Swingers”.
Songsin is best known for his clear, mysterious and soft hand drawings on paper. Fantasy is also added sometimes. What also makes his works distinguished from others’ is that they’re not aimed to make people laugh, but ‘think’. So it’s quite usual to see some small philosophic elements in his works.
Being counted as one of the Thai artists who inspire a young generation of comic drawers, Songsin is often invited as a guest speaker in terms of Art and Design and also artists’ life. He also works as a special lecture at Silpakorn University, where he has studied. His friendliness and a down-to-earth personality make him get a big amount of fans.
